Digging In The Crates

Driven by the belief that photography is a powerful tool for social change,DITC integrates the art of documentation into our mission of empowerment and education. By documenting the stories, struggles, and triumphs of hip-hop culture, we preserve its legacy, inspire activism, and empower individuals to make their mark on history. Through mentorship, advocacy, and creative expression, we amplify voices, ignite change, and build a world where everyone's narrative has the power to transform

Hidden Gems

Having called Ottawa my home for over a decade and a half, I've been fortunate to witness the exceptional talent of some of the city's most skilled DJs. Their performances are more than just an assembly of melodies; they are a vibrant celebration of our cultural heritage, a rich tapestry interwoven with soulful rhythms and electrifying beats. These artists have a remarkable ability not only to weave narratives with their dj music but also to provide an escape from the monotony of daily life. Through their sets, they offer us a portal to transcend the present, allowing us to traverse through time, revisiting cherished memories and experiencing the euphoria of eras gone by. It's this profound legacy of storytelling, escapism, and time travel through sound that truly merits recognition and celebration.

This project is more than an exhibit; it's a movement to acknowledge and appreciate the diverse voices that have enriched our city's cultural fabric. Let's come together to make this project a resounding success and a tribute to the art of Hip Hop In collaboration with OBAK & Cranium Arts Project, I, David D. Pistol (daviddpistol.com), am thrilled to announce an exciting initiative that aims to honor the contributions of DJs from various backgrounds who have shaped our local music scene. Imagine a journey through time, captured in artistic LP covers, showcasing the evolution of DJing in our community. This exhibition will not only highlight African-Canadian DJs but also celebrate the diverse array of talents that have contributed to our musical landscape.

We are eager to feature your story in this unique collection. To participate, we'd like to invite you to a special photo shoot, where we'll capture your essence and transform it into an iconic LP cover. These covers will be displayed in key locations around the city, accompanied by the mesmerizing sounds of your mixes, cuts, and scratches, creating an immersive experience for the community.
